Are these considered a fragile wheel? I just read the reviews on roadbikereview and it seems like there are a lot of people with broken spokes and cracked rims. Are they too fragile for a 180 pound rider? Any other pre-builts, that also come in tubular, that would be a better choice for fast training and the odd race?

they are fine. I have had them and am over 180 by a long shot. Bunny hops did not hurt them!

I just bought a set and I weigh 180lbs. I see a lot of people using them for cyclo-cross so I think they should be ok for road use.

I work in a bike shop and the answer to your question is no. I personally rode their predecessor the Heliums for 12 years and many thousands of miles and never even trued them! I just bought a set of ES's as I think they are absolutely stunning wheels......enjoy them and don't worry!
