I'm too cheap to buy 'em, so I bought the $15 Performance carbon cages. And, they suck. In 1200 miles, I have broken two of them.

Any cages under $25, that somebody recommends would be great! How about the Elite Patao?

I use the Tacx Tao cages. I crashed hard at about 35mph and both bottles stayed put. They're reasonably light and only about $15.

but you do get a (small) water bottle with each cage. Such a deal!!

Sorry, I like my retro-look Ciussi SS just fine...<$20 each and they don't leave black Al oxide all over my bottles!

The drunk uses the plastic $20 version of the elite patao (the ones that fit normal size bottles)) and they work just fine. I also like the old profile design cages from like 12 years ago.

I use the simple Elite Cuissi for ten bucks each. I refuse to pay more than that for a waterbottle cage.

As for those Campagnolo ones, I think BD means those proprietary old ones that required the bottles with the handle? Now, with all due respect to those who like these, I find them to be among the worst-est, stupit-est, damndumbest ideas I have ever seen on bicycles. I had a slew of them from a shop that went out of business. On eBay a hundred years ago I posted them, one at a time. Not one sold for less than $50. Really. I felt so bad about it that I put Campag decals in the boxes in gratitude. Good riddens, I didn't even keep one for sentiment's sake. I have kept at least one Bio-pace chainring waiting for their comeback when I heard some Dutch or French fella' explaining his "new and revolutionary" idea for not-round chainrings to be used by Bobby Julich during the Tour's tt. Bemused, confounded, there is not one bad idea in cycling that won't reappear as something new and better (uhhh....threadless steerers come to mind...say about 1955 from the likes of Herse and I am sure eariler but today's style is simply no different....). I am sure we will continue to have gram-shaving bottle cages to spend our money on too. Isn't life grand?

BD - that is exactly what I was looking at, the plastic $20 version of the patao.

Specialized makes a 45g aluminum cage which actually holds your bottles (not a launcher) in about 10 colors for about $6.95 at your trusty lbs.

Roy, you want the ones that hold the 40 oz. Torpedo!

I've got a few of the old Bio-pace rings laying around. They ARE making a comeback and I'll let you have them for a song.

I bought the new Campy Camelisimo Backimiso - $350. I did not upgrade to the carbon bite block for an upcharge of $225.

Lol - no I think I will stick with the C. cages. Al, but they look good, work fine, and the few grams more they weigh dont matter much when compared to my steel cassette...

ROFL -

the jerk has ten or twelve of those cages.....just kidding. the tao seems to be a pretty good cage and seems to hold bottles well and is really cheap. oh- roy by the way the proper way to transport colt .45 talls is in six pack form hanging off of the top tube three on each side. get a big bike with a 58-60cm top tube and you can hold up to three six packs sure, to paraphrase eddie b. you sorta hafta pedal "like polish milkman" but what other way are you going to find the liquid courage to beat up your wife and light your lap on fire when you pass out with a lit pall mall in your mouth.
