My daughter turned 13 this fall. Earlier in the fall I took her on a couple of tandem rides, her first. Yesterday I got home from work early and none of my riding buddies were available. Didn't want to go alone. It's rained for weeks here and there was actually a break in the clouds. So my daughter volunteers, sort of.

Off we go on the Robusta. Blue skies above. Black skies all around. We rode for nearly 2 hours and 35 miles of smooth empty roads, sunny skies, continuous rainbows and black sky backdrop. Not a drop of the wet stuff. Unbelievable. Some rides are better than others but this was one of the all-time best.

My wife better watch out because I think I found a new tandem partner.

I agree vaxn8r - riding tandem with a kid is great. My 11-year-old son and I did two centuries in California on the family tandem. Both rides went very well. My son love loves to ride in a pack and he'll get after me to chase people down. We are planning on doing three centuries this year - Chico Wildflower, Indian Valley, and Foxy's Fall.
