View Full Version : OT CD-RW Discs Won't Play
I burned a few discs of music for a friend and his quality CD player does not recognize them. My car player does not either. I've used Memorex CD-RW media. They will play on my PC.
What is the problem?

What file format?? Many CD players won't recognize MP3 files. You might have to convert to audio CD format.

Sorry....CD-RWs only play on computers...not stereo equipment. What you need are audio CD-Rs. Easy fix. just record your stuff over again on the correct media. Merry Christmas!

Usually, dvd-R will play in a home deck. Some brands are better than others about this. I agree, a cd-rw will be hit or miss in a cd player, unless it is designed to handle the media. I use regular cd media with pretty good success. I've never spent the extra money for the audio cd-r discs.

the audio cd-r disks are just a rip off - a way to feed the RIAA. CD-rw disks don't reflect as much light, so dont work well in many older players. CD-r should be fine most of the time - try to avoid colored disks.
