...Christmas eve.

Six of my eleven staffpeople are left in the office. I'm half-heartedly working on some cost projections for a project, and listening to Pere Ubu CDs. The phone hasn't rung in five hours. There's too much chocolate at the lunchtable, and too few people to share it with.

Who else is still at work?

I hosted a conference call this morning for something that I'm sure will seem insignificant a year from now but today seemed important. There were about 8 or 9 of us on the call and we did a quick survey....only one of us was actually in their office. So, the increasing mobility of our workforce/ workplace is a mixed blessing. On the one hand, we didn't need to gather face to face in a conference room. On the other hand, the technology available to us somehow convinced us to check in on Christmas Eve.

I've let my whole staff go. I'll probably cut out at 4:00 which means my boss will no doubt call at 4:45 and I'll get attitude next time we speak. I've read the whole interweb today.

At the bike shop until 5:00; the owner and his wife were still there when I left. Last minute shopping had slowed down and all new bikes had been picked up. There's going to be a lot of happy people tomorrow morning.

People= lots of adults, not just the kids! :D
We were happy to be there; our customers have made it a REALLY good month/year for our shop!

Nothing like a new bike under the tree ... I don't care how old you are.

Must have been a fun day: those smiles on customer's faces - it's what keeps me going when the hours are long and the schedule relentless. Different industry, but it is all the same: sure not in it for the hourly wage.

Glad to hear you finished off with a bang.

Support your local bike shop.

Wow! I hate to go to work..and this time of year I'd be off for the last 2 weeks (movie biz shuts down last 2 weeks of the year).

But, due to the Writers Strike, I have been off of work for the last 3 weeks and no going back in sight...

Glad all of you can go to work and f$ck off! I'm jealous!!!

Just sayin,

Steve
