"The Custom Bicycle", circa 1979, provides information on the construction of high end bikes and the thoughts of some of the builders:

I saw this on the Classic and Vintage Forum and thought some of you might be interested.

wow a step back into the time machine.

this was my bible growing up. Stuck in wichita KS i didn't have a lot of help setting up a bike. I read this book cover to cover and tried to emulate the setups for toe clips, handle bars, etc...

That's Fee Waybill, lead singer for The Tubes, and looks as if he is joined on stage by jugs :D

Wow, a blast from MY past. I have a copy of that book on my shelf. After reading it cover to cover I ended up ordering a Condor Italia as the dollar to pound rate was very favorable back then. That Condor was still one of my favorite bikes. It was destroyed when a car made a left hand turn in front of me. The Eddy Merckx I replaced it with did not ride as well. Thanks for the memories. I somehow doubt any of us will be wistful about the many carbon brands available today.
