I want to start a fan website. Nothing to buy or sell, just post pics, thougths, etc. Like a fan club if you will.

Does anyone have any ideas where to look for hosting? Are there sites that are free? If not which ones are easy to use and deal with?

Sounds like you want to do a "blog". Most blogs are hosted free. There is usually a "create your own blog" tab in the upper right.
