Please read with your ATMO glasses on-

Dear Lew Racer,

We are now booking preorders for our clincher PRO VC-1 wheelset which will be shipping in January. The set weight will be sub 980grams and utilize the Tune freehub body. Please reply back if you want to get your order in the queue as we anticipate selling out of these quickly. The preorder price is $5495 (a $500 savings) and is valid through the end of the year.

Regards,

I am all for buying what you want and can afford...is there ANY measurable data to say, LEW is by far and away the best wheelset?

Are they the most expensive? Because in that case, they HAVE to be the best!

Totally.

In fact they go up to 11! Fastest you can go on other wheels is 10. :bike:

Wouldn't wheels with a 10 be faster than those with an 11?

Is that price with or without the Team Car to follow you on the Saturday Breakfast ride ?

. . . you could find more expensive wheels than that out there somewhere.

Yeah...but Lew makes them.

Wasn't there a set of $15k Lew hoops at Interbike?

Seems to me one could buy the LEW rims ($1800?), some Tune (or whatever)hubs, and build up comparable wheels for considerably less that $5500.

After doing the math...

I could have a set of these blinged out wheels or the last 4 bikes I bought and $2500 cash.

1.) Bianchi RC Cross Bike - $750
2.) Serotta Atlanta - $800
3.) Davidson Impulse - $400
4.) LOOK KG271 - $950

Look at the bright side, if you act now (operators are standing by...) you'll pocket a cool $500.00 in savings. :)

these wheels would be a great upgrade on one of the $12k Discovery bikes on EBAY. Serotta Pete, you could buy three and put your three sets of Lews to good use. It would only set you back in the $45-50k range, but you would have three fine steeds, with a great heritage. And NO waiting in queue.

Yes, but then I would have a difficult time deciding which one to ride - after I got out the hospital....

If you don't act today, you could save 4,000 and buy a very nice set of someone else's wheels.

In sales we call that one the impending doom close (artifical deadline looming or sometimes the implication of scarcity), usually translate into "if anyone offers us $5,500 for this wheelset ever, we'll take it."

Yeah, no kidding... Like the Campy Hyperons I found on eBay! Brand new and about $1700 Below the wholesale price... :D :D

There are places and things, I draw the line on OR hold my wallet, I should say.

Right here.

I already have a pair in the tubular version. Lew has not ask me the test drive their clinchers. If the clinchers are as good as the tubies they'll be outstanding wheels for sure. I have 2700 plus miles on their newest wheels and not one bit of trouble.

. . . is how much lighter can they keep making them and yet still have them be ridable in real world situations for any length of time.

actually the question is... what is the ideal weight for a wheel and how should the weight be distributed in the wheel for it give the best feel? and then... how and where should it be stiff?

Pete Serotta

Dave we all have opinions and that is good. Mine is that these are good wheels and there have been many sold.

Some will say they ride rough BUT I have never had a problem in that area with them.

THEY ARE BULLET PROOF and I would be just as slow on the LEWs.
