I predict a run on Peter White for Nokians and maybe an Atlantis or two.
So put some Hakkapaleitas on your Hakkalugi and have fun.

Xmas card shot,

Well, I don't care if it rains or freezes
Long as I have my plastic Jamis
Riding on the dashboard of my car
I could go a hundred miles an hour
Long as I got the almighty power
Glued up there with my pair of fuzzy dice

{Refrain - repeat between verses}
Plastic Jamis, plastic Jamis
Riding on the dashboard of my car
Through all trials and tribulations
We will travel every nation
With my plastic Jamis I'll go far

I've decided to cancel. I lived in KC for the last nationals and that wasn't a race against people that was a race to get back to the car. There's a difference between hard man races and stupidity. Personally, I think they should be honest with everyone and cancel the races, before people fly out there for misery.

The course was a mud pit. Faster to run if it gets worse in some spots. If it snows as much as they say, I can't see how this course will be race-able. I am hoping for a serious run fest.

I did the B race today and I'd describe the course as "heavy." I'ts like wading through wet cement. My race was the last one of the day and it seemed to get faster as the laps counted down. The course has few flat out pedaling sections and there's no real place to open it up. With that said, the mud seems to have a high sand content as opposed to Portland clay based mud. I thought is was fun and others described it as "hard," but I heard no complaints. It's one of those courses, if someone makes a mistake and goes down, you don't see 'em again. Luckily I had no such incidents.

The organization and promotion of the event has been great. The venue is nicely located not far from plenty of restaurant choices and the hotel is a very short ride away. The folks here in KC couldn't be more helpful. At the venue, there's a big tent with warm air being pumped in and a line-up of trainers for general use adjacent to the staging area.

The only criticizm I have is that there's far too much meadow/grass sections. Courses with many different surfaces are far more interesting. Also, there's some small hillocks on the course that they could have used to make more technical sections. More drop-ins with sketchy turns at the bottom are always welcome. It's likely that the park has a lot restrictions of what they can do.

I predict Tim Johnson will win with JP second, Wells 3rd, Trebon 4th and Flux 5th. There, I said it.

THAT race was brutally COLD and icy. This is just a technical course with mud HUGE difference. ATMO

The comments to me from out of town riders as well as locals were extrmely positive. For most of the country, everyone has had a very mild cross season. After the last race, 2 guys were riding back from picking up their pit gear and they were just black with mud...and all you could see was the whites of their teeth and one was saying..."we have been waiting all season for these conditions.

If anyone sees this guy roaming around the course give him a beer. My good friend and shop owner Bruce went down to play with the best  .

$^#&*@&#^$&%*!!! . . . I was in KC last week. I should have stayed another week and taken all my camera gear. Her photos have my shutter finger twitching and I'm salivating right now! Oh, my God great shooting with all that ice on the trees!

BTW, Sarah is one really cool lady and Acme is one really cool shop. I went down there last week. My parents had a couple of old bikes in their garage and I wanted to donate them to the ghost bike program in KC. The store is unbelievable! They have every old bike part and every kind of steel frame you could imagine!

Go check out their web site at:

All sorts of cool stuff there!
