Obviously its not too much plastic for the podium because, that's exactly where Sven rode it to. And, it sounds like he is extremely pleased with it. It looks pretty darn good to me, just like a cross bike should look.

Definitely in the running for least ugly Colnago of all time...

personal preference I suppose. I think some of their paint jobs are fantastic.

Sure wouldn't have an issue riding it though.

Same current price as that steel rig above. If wait wasn't in the equation, I know which I'd rather have, but the Nago would suit fine while waiting;-)

no they don't.

that's a custom one off, extreme power in cross geometry with canti bosses. if your name isn't sven nys you don't have one and can't get one. the c50 cross that joe public can buy is a completely different bike.

True, but a stock C50 cross is a nice bike none the less.

Oh, is that the kind that breaks in half when you crash?

Why in god's name would Colnago have made their cross bike 'softer' than their road bikes? Seems counterproductive. Nys obviously thought so.

What kind of rear brake cable stop is that?!

The front too! Maybe jerk has more info??? inquiring minds would like to know.

The bike is beautiful for sure. But, you better be able to mash the big ring, and put people in the hurt locker if you roll to the starting line on that beast.

they didn't. the c50 cross is a c50. its the same stiffness as a regular c50 with stiffer chain stays. nys' bike is an extreme power which is torsionally more rigid than a c50.

Indeed, I read it was an EP as well.

I don't care for that rear brake cable hanger and the housing running along the post is too long. If you look at the pictures in cyclingnews Nys's mechanic did not install the Gore cable housing properly for the rear brake as well. Mad Painful. Most likely the only time Sven hits the rear brakes is to stop himself from hitting all the photographers after his victory salutes anyways...

Yes, Nys's one-off custom bike is more rigid than a C50, as you'd probably expect from a cross racing frame.

But I was talking about Colnago's production cross bike, about which I read this on the cyclingnews.com page linked earlier in this thread:

"The Italian-made frame is labeled as a standard Colnago C50 Cross. However, unlike *the production model that is actually designed to be somewhat softer than its road-going counterpart*"

i.e. according to CN the production cross bike is 'somewhat softer' than the production C50 road bike.

Maybe CN is wrong, especially if it's in reality a more rigid C50 with stronger instead of 'softer' stays.

It's the general idea of making a crossbike as a softer version of a roadbike that made me wonder. Maybe they mean 'softer' as in 'less aero position' instead of frame rigidity, who knows.

No.

"Softer" means the 'cross frame is a better listener, remembers birthdays, and knows your favorite Clif Bar flavor. And it likes linen, and Tori Amos.

Oh, OK.

Maybe that's why my Cannondale cross bike threw me off not long ago when Supertramp came on the iPod. It prefers thrash metal, doesn't like braking and only listens if I want it do something it likes doing.
