Bicycle Torque Couplers.

I'm seriously thinking about a TR coupled frame. I'm wondering if those with experience of using such similar coupled frames could offer up their insights having used and coped with travelling and using such. In particular;

i. which case type and size would be best?
ii. which brake choice would be best?
iii Any 'tricks' to help/ avoid certain 'issues'?

Essentially any words of wisdom would be gratefully received. Thank you.

When you say "knowledge base," one person here comes to mind. Before you ask, do a search on 11.4's posts. :)

Just a sample. I'm sure he's posted a lot more information on the subject.

Thanks for the links. 11.4 has some very interesting insights. The Bike Pro case solution looks like an interesting alternative to couplers. The case is somewhat bigger than the BTC way but not too big. Time to have a rethink.

I have one bike with couplers, and another is under construction.

That said, I normally use a soft travel case. It is not the Bike Pro but the same idea.

Like 11.4 says, you can roll the case up and put it in a closet which is nice.

I have an aluminium frame in the bottom of it which the rear dropouts and front fork attach to, wheel bags on either side of the bike. It is light and works very well.

The only thing I have done in addition is to pick up some 4mm corrugated plastic sheets at Home Depot, total cost about $12. I trim them down to size and put one inside each of the sides of the case, additionally I slide a sheet down in between each of the wheel bags and the frame.

This just adds some stiffness to the sides and no add meaningful additional weight.

I have yet to have bike damaged in the case.
