This is possibly the single greatest moment from the muppet show. I loved it then and I still do.

Jim Henson must have found the song very memorable because it was subsequently performed at his funeral.

True. On the DVD, Jim Henson's son does an intro for each episode, and he points out that his dad and HB became good friends after Belafonte did the guest spot. He did indeed enjoy the song so much that Harry did a special performance at JH's funeral.
