ps Ice storm here today. We'll probably start our annual ice sculpture of Bernard Hinault tomorrow morning.

Today was 50 miles in low 30F temps, with it snowing large flakes about 50% of the time. Tomorrow is around 30 miles usually with the forecast:

High 39F with 100% chance of rain, up to 1", and south winds to 25mph. The USGP is going to be nasty at PIR.

It was a good day here too!
Played Echo Falls Golf Course and was 3 over par from the back Tees after 18 holes. 3 birdies - it was a good for putting even tho it was 39 degrees F.

 Kevan and I went for a little ride--he was on my Terraplane and I my Hampsten. He brought cold rainy weather with him but we missed most of it. I took him for his first Chicago style hot dog / the works including sport peppers and his first Italian beef and home made potato chips. We earned it. The boy can't have ahi tacos every time he comes to San  Diego.

50 miles awesome post storm ride. Didn't even mind the 25-30 mph headwinds on the way back. Just finished taping up the front tubie on my Sachs track bike. It hits the velodrome on Weds. I'l post pics tomorrow.

Killer day here, did the Festivelo century in Charleston--55-60' weather, sun shining, S of Charleston and then back to Folly Beach. Got sunburned in December. Brutal Northeaster headwinds! But, flat roads had me in cruise control

90 minutes in ~25 degrees -- felt like it was in the teens. My water bottle froze up so it was a good time to stop.

Hey CT no beer tonight. Just finished the rear wheel and I've decided the Sachs is going on a ride tomorrow as it's just to pretty to hang out in the house. I'm sipping on a little 1921 reserva especiale tequila.

35 miles on a sunny 33 degree day with a decent amount of wind. Enjoyed watching PITT knock off WVU in Morgantown.

Haha.....nope, didn't join a monastery but stopped at the Saint Sixtus monastery in Westvleteren Belgium and picked up a case of their beer, which is rated among the top beers in the world and you can't buy it anywhere but there. I've wanted to go for years, so it was one more thing to cross off the list. The beer is awfully tasty too.

I was doing a quick one-day tour of all the major cycling landmarks in Flanders. The first picture is the Koppenberg, and I was lucky enough to get to watch two guys ride up it with mountain bikes and they were struggling. Even driving up it was pretty hazardous, as it's covered with mud and cow poop.

Saw the Kapelmuur too, and it is just insanely steep. The Tour of Flanders in Ourdenaarde is a must see if you're ever in the area too. Very cool history of the Tour de France as well, including a nice tribute to Tom Simpson.

Me after soccer on Thanksgiving morning, (I know saying I just got back from a ride would be better, but it is what it is) in the den with MacIntosh - it seemed to fit the theme. Photo credit to my wonderful wife who always seems to catch me sleeping (more often than not) with one of our animals. As long as she doesn't post one of me sleeping with the fishes, I think I'm okay.

What did you do today?

Sleep in until 9:30. Back in bed by 11:30 for a 1 hour "nap" with the wife.

Chinese take out for lunch.

Walk thru the local park with wife and kids.

Family movie with bacon and cinnamon roll dinner.

I'd say I'm happy with my day.

A full weekend.

Six people over for dinner Friday night.

I started Saturday addressing some practical and spiritual needs:

Then I went shopping:

And took my family out for dinner and a movie:

Sunday morning, the Blue Hills Trail Watch sponsored a Toys for Tots ride:

Two hours of riding, followed by hot chocolate, homemade biscotti and lots of bike talk, the Old Coot himself holding forth on his newest bike and handlebars.

Finally, I hit the car show. Discouraging to see how few cars can both get truly high mileage and carry a bike in the back. Encouraging to see how appealing that new Accord EX is...
