since lurking on this forum
i've considered a custom steel frame.
jack brunk's original message
gave some favorable comments
about bob browns work,
his credentials as a 3m engineer,
but really no practical
i have one
and he's the best kept secret testimonials...
anyone have one of these??
i'm seriously considering
getting myself to the cities
to take him up on his online offer
of taking his personal bike on a test ride...
...i wonder what size it is...!?!

If you go for that test drive, give me a call, I'm but a few miles away...

we're supposed to drive to st olaf

but i think we may opt out for cross country skiing
close to home
park the cars
and stay off the hiway!

Choices are a good thing and St. Olaf oh my!
I miss the Twin Cities in a big way. Fantastic arts
scene.

Hey, your builder is certainly intersting. As long as you are
in the hunt I know another fellow in Mpls. who is not so bad.
Look him up.

vv nice!
is there a link??

we just spoke to our daughter...
6-8 inches of snow is expected, followed by layers of ice.
i guess we'll soon see if what is expected
will materialize or not...
probably more likely than a custom steel frame at this point,
but i'm enjoying the waiting game.
sometimes you just know when the timing is right
and it all comes together!

Fear no snow in Mpls. St. Paul. That is one town where drivers can deal with it and the city does an excellent job managing. Ha! I drove school bus for two yrs. part time while at school. I can not actually remember a snow day where school was let out!!!

Curt Goodrich. Tell him TT sent you :)

*Did you get the "not so bad" MN humor?

it's just that it 'could be worse.'

even though i'm a south dakotan
and now live in iowa,
learning minnesotan was essential
to break through and relate to our family
that lives in the cities...!

here's a link for you minnesotans who have now moved away (exiles):
http://prairiehome.publicradio.org/features/ptth/1997/06.shtml

this commentary really helps me:
"People in Minnesota will often come off as cold, and distant. This isn't entirely untrue. Its a product of our environment, and heritage. Its best to just not take offense when someone does not respond as warmly to you as you might have expected, does not want to hug you, and for those from kissing countries, does not want to kiss or be kissed by you. You shake hands, and personal space is 3 feet apart at minimum. We are notorious for not making eye contact, or speaking directly. We've been taught to do this, out of respect, and fear of the other person. I like to think of it as almost showing deference."

i also must confess, i am not an ole
but i do proudly wear a t-shirt that says i'm a st olaf dad
...that was 40% off at the bookstore...!

thanks for the goodrich tip...
...half the fun
is considering all the options!!!
...and then, just maybe i'll wait for a commemorative stainless steel csi...

Not an Ole either. Just surrounded by them.

TT - I think you meant Curt Goodrich. I've only seen one, and it was really beautiful.

Goodrich made by hand steel bicycles.. (http://www.curtgoodrich.com/)

Some escaped, some visited, the hardy never left. It (the snow) is really coming down here today. I love the snow this time of year but would settle for 75 and sunny about January 2nd.

...where the women are strong, the men are good looking and the children are above average.

and the link...um ya ya indeed!
i'm enjoying this very much. thanks!
i just got back from a 10 miler
in 4+ inches of snow,
but had freezing rain and ice pellets
on the way back into the headwind.
whooshta!
i'm thinking it's nice enough to bike today
but bad enough not to be able to drive anywhere!!!

Uff da, ya betcha. Living in Minneapolis is not so bad. Visiting Curt at his workshop is a treat and be sure to score some of these as well.

It's like deja-vu, all over again.
