So whats the better option: braze on cable stops or old school removable stops? And please show your work!

I too am having problems here.
Both function fine. I suppose the braze-on are more minimal appearing, though it depends where they are secured. Headtube seems to be preferred location, but I like them set back some rather than set out front of the tube.

Love has everything to do with it.
Do you mean the down-tube stops that mount on braze-on down-tube shifter bosses? If so, the head-tube fittings tend to be better for a couple reasons:
1. The down-tube bosses can collect perspiration and rust more easily.
2. The head-tube stops don't allow the cable housings to hit the top tube and wear your finish there.
The slight downside of the head-tube bosses is that your cable housings have to make a tighter curve to fit, especially with a short stem and short head tube. Not as much of an issue with Shimano STI, but more with Campy.
