So I'm flicking through the channels over a BECK (bacon, egg, cheese with ketchup) and on the FAMHD (Family HD) channel I see this really hot 70's chick in a mesh-like, rope outfit, I freeze.

It's from 1975, an epidose of 'UFO', a show I never knew existed. The vehicles are plastic toys filmed from great distances, I think I can see strings on some of the ships etc. The men in the show wear turtlenecks with jumpsuits and seem to wear more eye shadow than the woman. There are a few hotties on this 1970's series, I may have to finish my BECK while watching UFO. Colonel Virgina Lake, Miss Ealand, Tamara Paulson and some other SHADO Operatives are hawt (Wanda Ventham aka Colonel Virginia Lake FTW ATMO).

I think it's from the 60's and went into the 70's when I was a kid. Seems like Jacques Costeau meets Star Trek meets Space 1999 meets Swiss Cheese.

Have you seen this, do you know of it and will you admit it? HERE:

I remember "UFO"....one of my friends had the lunchbox. It would probably be worth $1000 on ebay today!

If you want to see a cool Gerry Anderson TV show...check out "Thunderbirds"...puppets at their best!

I have a Dinky diecast model of this (just like the one I had as a kid!):

. . . beat the pants off "UFO" . . . IMHO!

I always found it fascinating what they were able to do as far as manufacturing a world of the near future on Thunderbirds, building all the miniature sets, and making it all work. While the gadgets and culture seemed wacky and the plots were typical "mega-villain tries to take over the world", I don't remember any of it involving technology that wouldn't reasonably be possible in the next 50 years.

As for the marionette technology, the recent movie "Team America: world Police" from those guys that do South Park is also fascinating, not to mention being incredibly, grossly funny. I watched the DVD recently and they had all the extra features about how they made the movie. It was absolutely incredible what was going on out of camera range in some of the scenes--literally dozens of people running around working these marionettes to make it all work--all without falling over each other or getting tangled up.

Forget that campy cr@p. Last night I went to see the "final cut" version of the best science fiction movie ever made - Blade Runner. What an awesome flick.

The best part is that I got to fall in love with Sean Young all over again (and Daryl Hannah was also pretty hot).

I remember UFO. It was one of my faves. Usually came on late at night in my area,, around 10:30 or 11:00 pm. I think it only lasted one season. :( More info can be found here:

Hey, so what did they end up doing with the voiceover? Keeping it or getting rid of it?

I remember UFO from when I was a kid But I thought Space 1999 was a better show.

. . . The Earth Stood Still.

Still one of my favorites after all these years. While the movie was advertised as just another "alien invader" flick (see the poster!), it was in truth cerebral, thought provoking, and it caught the communist-atomic-annihilation-paranoid atmosphere of the times (1951) perfectly. The special effects were well done for the time and the script and dialog were well-written. It didn't take long for you to start rooting for the alien "invader" who was really just trying to help humanity.

and who can EVER forget, "Gort! Klaatu barada nikto!"

Klaatu ROCKS!

It's gone. As HF and SY leave the apartment he finds Olmos's unicorn thing (which of course reminds him / you of the unicorn dream he had) and the movie ends.

Best sci fi movie indeed. You know it was a product of the day, the 50's; they sent Jes*s back as a libertari*n, instead of a hippy.

EDIT: FYI, they are re-making The Day the Earth Stood Still...not sure how I feel about this:

JENNIFER CONNELLY is the hottest thing since the sun:

And fyi, there is talk about a re-make of THe Clash of the Titans:

Last but not least, I still live for Superfriends: The Justice League, I own all seasons on DVD and 'claim' to buy them for my nephews:
