typing is a little hard right now so I will fill in the details later. The good news was that at one point will waiting in the ER my BP was only 125 over 67

A quick summary:

Me and the boys were on the riding leg of our 4 mile hike/12 mile ride. Trying to show off, I went on a small side trail to get around my 14 y/o. The side trail is on the side of a sand bank and was covered with pine straw. I was flying and as I turned to get back on the main trail my front wheel washed out. I stuck my arm out to break the fall :crap:

Dude, very sorry to hear and see this. It's not a great time for this (no great time to be injured). Feel better, ouch.

PS. Don't take the time to write etc, just post, "atmo" for every reply during the next 4-8 weeks while it heals.

Here is another view of a dislocated elbow as seen in an x-ray. Beyond the dislocation, I managed to break both elbows in one fall, as well as a vertebrae... Having both elbows broken and the whole back in a brace is no fun. You can't do anything on your own

If that was asked of me, neither. I had a mechanical that locked up the front wheel on my high wheeler that consequently catapulted me over the handlebars.

Best wishes for a speedy and full recovery. What a bummer of an injury in preparation for the Thanksgiving feast. :(

None of this would have happened if you shaved your legs.

Recover soon.

. . . this has happened to you!

About all the comfort I can offer is to consider how much worse it could have been, given all the other horror stories that have been in the news lately about cyclists mowed down in various ways.

Good that you didn't break bones.

Hope your recovery is fast and as painfree as possible.

Happy Thanksgiving.

neither this time

My 14 y/o and my 11 y/o!

We had given the 11 y/o a head start. He rode the full 6 miles back to the car grinning from ear to ear because he thought we couldn't catch him.

My 14 y/o handled the whole thing like a battle worn veteran. He helped me get comfortable, called 911 and after verifying I wasn't fatally injured he rode to find his brother. He than bummed a cell phone in the parking lot and called me to say they were fine.

He handled it with so much maturity I feel like I should take him out for a beer.

No question! In the world of cycling injuries I feel pretty lucky.
