i need to spruce up my training bike.... and am gonna swap stems. the bars are slammed and i've got 3t less.. which i think is an 80 degree stem.

i'm gonna put on some rotors which i think are +/-7.5 degrees.

what's the diff.... how much higher or lower is 7.5 than the 80 if the stem is 120...

i can't figure it out... i can talk to you about your feelings but these number thingies hurt.

..

ok.. is 7.5 like 75 degrees so were talking half a degree?

This is and old school soh, cah, toa ... sin is opposite over hypotenuse, cosine is adjacent over hypotenuse, and tangent is opposite over adjacent.

Sin(angle) = What you want to know / stem length

So ... what you want to know = sin(angle) * stem length

I put the 7.5 in just to show that it probably was 75.

Yo Swoop....

Do a search on this forum or on Google, for "Excel stem calculator". I think someone posted a reference to this.

Now, "how many fingers lower is the 75?", dunno bro. What kind of fingers you talking about? Monkey fingers or human fingers or what? :D

fingers... funny... years ago i'm getting a frame for a former pro rider who was spending his dotage with my team...( paul mccormack/ irish mafia )
and i ask him what size frame he uses...
his answer...
" 2 fingers between the tt and the dt"

easy enough i say...

I must like you or sumpin'

...

seriously ... maybe 25 places! the defaults in excel are silly. anyhoo, one other tidybit to mention, the higher stem brings the reach back 3mm. time for coffee.
