Isn't this the way everyone mounts their bikes?
Thanks for the video llink. It reminded me of a time when a few friends and I wanted to see how long we could lay down a patch on our fixies. Any guesses on how long of a skid can be accomplished on freshly paved black-top??

I assume those were 4 way stops they were running?

No guesses yet on the length of the skid? Since there's not a lot of suspense for this, the answer is 300 feet + (that's a football field!). The reason there is a "+" is that my friend Al hit a parking block while he still had momentum left. I don't know where that would've ended up. I blew my rear tire a few feet short of that. We also attempted it with a bare rim (tough to get up to speed) and ran out of pavement (a bare rim is very slick and I have a nice scar from going down to prove it!).
Flat Out

These are great.
Stupid question: Do they lean forward just to take weight off the rear wheel so they can lock it up?

Sandy uses a ladder too, along with his walker.
How much crashing must you survive to get as good as these cowboys?

A Lot. ;) But, once you get it, you no longer think about it. Remember the first time you learned how to drive a stick-shift (or do a track-stand)? Kinda like that.
It took about 4 weeks of practice every night to learn how to do something like this:

Comes in handy when you literally have to get across stopped traffic.

Trials riders are incredibly interesting to watch. Balancing briefly on the thin metal railing? Wow!

I use the handlebar mount on the tandem, especially if my wife is already back there.

that bike messengers had some loose screws. I have watched the videos and now I am sure of it. That being said maybe there is a Pista in my future.
