Karin and I are lucky enough to have three wonderful cats that let us live with them. The youngest, Inga, is a sweet little fluffy girl who is not the least bit scared of animals bigger than her.

I took this photo out the back window of the house this past weekend after watching Inga march right out the the deer in the garden to check her out. She can be seen just behind the deer. At this point she was only about 4 feet away and she was holding her ground. She kicks butt.

Here's Amassa. He runs the show. We never knew something so fluffy and cute could be so bada$$.
Note empty bowl behind him, hence the reason for his complaint.

This is Spalding during a time of need (again note empty bowl).

Spalding's claim to fame was that he was in a cat calendar once. His celebrity status has not gotten the best of him, even though he did once date the Olsen twins.

AKA Speedo, Speedman, Speedhead, sacrificing his hunting time to test our new outdoor furniture two years ago. Neighbors say he is dumb as a post, but he has survived 8 years with fisher cats, coyotes, and foxes, so how dumb can he be?? He and I are very close, first time I have bonded with a cat.

These are from a while ago.

Comet is the rosette (spotted) male and now weighs about 21 pounds. His half sister Cricket is the marbled female and she is now a petite 14 pounds.

They are products of the same father and 2 different mothers, born about 2 weeks apart and raised together.

They are both very dog like and play with Dief. The wrestling matches between Comet and the dog who is about 60 pounds and looks like a small blonde shepherd (see the dogs thread somewehere) are hysterical.

They also love to play in water and will join you in the shower at times.

I will have to hunt for a picture of our "old lady", Maggie. She is pushing 16 years old.

15 years old, b*tchy and glorious.

I came within a few days of having to euthanize her last year. For some unknown reason, she stopped eating and that subsequently caused liver and kidney damage. She was being fed liquified cat food through her nose and washed down with a syringe full of water. I woke up every hour of the night and left work three times per day to come home to feed her for three long weeks.

For some unknown reason, she simply started eating again, and a year later (I am knocking on wood) you would never know. She seems perfectly healthy, as 15 year old cats go. Sleep all day, missing a couple of teeth, but still cute as h*ll.

I adore this creature.

Mandy, the cat, with her favorite chew-toy, Buddy. To watch these two fight/play is hilarious. Mandy will dash across the room and do a drive-by swat on a peacefully resting Buddy to instigate a mad chase through the house.

Tony,

Thanks! It was just dumb luck for me. He has extra toes, which more or less gives him opposable thumbs, and he fetches. He is by far the cleverest cat I've ever met - it's like having a really clean, sweet-tempered pet monkey. My former roommates and I used to play games with him, which he would invent surprisingly complex rules for - he really is an amazingly bright creature.

Campagnolo (the calico) and Shimano (the black one)! All cats OR cat people, are welcomed in our house!

These are two fabulous Manx cats, IMO, the best breed of cats there is. These guys are like dogs (sorry, Sandy). You can fetch them and all... But you don't have to walk them! :D

This spring an acquaintance came across a box of four discarded kittens. They were about 10 days old, their eyes were just open and they were tiny. My friend Lisa wanted three kittens, so I took the fourth. Here's Lisa with Poppy the day they came to my house:
http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p139/Gingerbike/Poppyspics/IMG_0879Poppy2007.jpg

Poppy spent about three weeks at Lisa's house with her brothers, I'd go and visit
http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p139/Gingerbike/Poppyspics/IMG_0919_2Poppy2007.jpg

Poppy is quite enamored of my Kirk. And she prefers to chew on Campagnolo rather than Shimano.
http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p139/Gingerbike/Poppyspics/IMG_1245_2Poppy2007.jpg

I'll have to post some more recent pictures...for the most part she's grown into these ears that earned her a comparison to a fruit bat
http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p139/Gingerbike/Poppyspics/IMG_1258Poppy2007.jpg

Unfortunately, now that fall has come and I've closed the windows to the house, my sensitivity to cats has appeared. We've started back on the bath and cleaning cycles...but does anyone have any tips to reduce the allergens with cats? I've gotten sort of attached to the Pop Cat.

Avispa,

Looks like you busted Shimano kitty ogling at your desktop photo.

Ginger, my first recommendation for the bath routine is to wear oven mitts!
Hopefully you can find a good solution. Those photos are adorable, esp the one with her peeking through the spokes.

Karin, We've been doing the bath thing since she was very small because I was very aware of my allergies...but we took a break because of her spay and declaw. She's all healed up now...so it's time to get back to the weekly routine.

(Yes. I know the declaw is cruel and inhuman. I cried for three days when I had it done because I felt so awful about causing her that pain...but...we've had a very harmonious house ever since.)

The ruler of the household. What a life cats have, playing and sleeping all day while their slaves work to provide a roof over their heads and food.

But he's a good snuggler and quite sociable, so he gets away with it.

Here are our girls:

First picture is of the kittens the first night we got them. Both Abysinnians.

Second picture is of the matriarch kitty of the house, CoCo Channel, an Occicat. She is nearly 17 years old and hated the kittens when they first came into our family, but adores them now.

The third picture is of the kittens just today. Very, very high energy, loving girls. They keep us laughing.

a friend of mine used to have a pet bobcat.
i wish i had a photo.
the thing was huge ( it died a few years ago ).

this guy is tall...6'1".
the cat used to stand with its paws on his shoulders...head was as big as a soccer ball.
i was terrified of the thing...

you could hear it running around in his house at night ( nocturnal of course )
i stayed there once and put a chair up against the door.
amazing animal though... cannot imagine the size of a tiger or something.
