After my next appt I'm outta here to My first ever cross race in Miami and the first race of our first ever statewide cross series. I've been training well and Im ready to go. I have even conviced myself that when I cough up a lung it will taste good. Wish me luck, double points are on offer for the first race.

Good luck and let us know how it goes. I would love to do it but have a race on Sunday for which I need to be fresh, so I will pass this year, unfortunately.

Best of luck to you. Perhaps some of the cross racers here can give you some meaningful advice as to how to approach this particular race and course if they know it, as you have never raced it beore. Maybe what type of race strategy you should take.

Best of luck! Remember, the pain is only temporary.

And so is the cross gut. At the very least, it should clear up by morning.

Miami? Oh!

I don't remember it to well, but isn't that where I met you, with you wearing your lovely pink sequined skimpy bikini? :) :)

ride hard
focus on transitions
choose pre-race food that will taste ok when it returns post-race
and good luck

Don't get sick. And atmo, couldn't you find a nicer box for his dirt nap? One made from makore, cocobolo, wenge, or African mahogany burl?

Thanks for everyone's kind words. Cross is hard. That coffin thing is the damn truth. The race started like all races do...fast. I was not able to stay with the leaders in lap 2. I have been fighting a virus all week and that is when it caught up to me. I can't say enough about how nice the course was. The promoters did a great job. Overall I was a little disapointed in 9th. Based on the competition I was thinking 5th-6th. I scored some points that will count double. I'll be bringing all my stuff to Tallahassee for round 2. This is fun stuff atmo. I've added some pics. The first is me in race action and the second is my team and I taking some time on the Velodrome in the afternoon.
