Every morning before the stage the riders would hang out in the expo center. A gated area open only to riders, race sponsors, race officials, VIP's and the press. Well... One of the major Race Sponsors was "Esta The" (pronounced Esta Tae). Esta The makes tea products and the tea product they were marketing at the Giro was their sport's tea. It was kind of like a Kool Aid packet but round and made of a stiffer plastic. Do a quick Google search and you will see. Anyways... The podium girls in the Giro worked for Esta The and in addition to gracing the podium, they were responsible for passing out nice, chilled Esta The's to the riders in the Expo before the start of the stage. They would just walk around and ask you which flavor you wanted "Pesche o Limone?" meaning "Peach or Lemon?". For most foreign riders in the Giro "Pesche" and "Limone" were the only two Italian words they bothered to learn.

I hope this does not offend any women on this forum. My story is not meant to be sexist or degrading. I just wanted to give you guys and gals a little inside view. Probably could have done without the picture but I feel it only makes my little story non-fiction.
