I don't understand the question. Yes you can ride road tires on a cross bike.

I would like to use a cross bike for racing purposes (road racing). I know it's backwards but...it may be affordable.

Actually my arm hurt pretty bad (check this pic (http://abbiorca.com/bike/road/road2002/sfgrandprix-9-15-02/source/img_5871.html)) . TD caused a stupid crash earlier in the race and my arm got slammed. I still have the scar.

That race was so hard... I wish it was still around. The sound going up those climbs was volcanic. So many people!
