I have an older Sachs touring frame I'm going to refinish. I have a few red ones so i'm looking at a different color. I'll use the results of this poll atmo.

A couple days ago I stripped down my Serotta Club Special and cleaned it up to get ready for a makeover. So, since it needs a fresh paint job, I will volunteer it as your guinea pig... as long as you pick up the tab. ;)

This way you can see what it would look like before doing the Sachs. BTW... I am partial to panels and possibly painted lugs.

Anything other than charcoal or orange. Why not a nice metallic copper with white panels?

especialy suitable for a tourer. The fact that you didn't at least put an "other" in the poll makes me suspicious... ;) ;) ;)

I keep coming back to the idea of getting a steel bike painted National School Bus Chrome Yellow...but I really would prefer to see someone else's execution before I commit. So that's my 1st choice!

Or: I presume Joe Bell can do candy-apple finishes with a varying top coat translucence (i.e., fades)? My second choice would be Candy Sapphire Blue over a metal-flake silver base, where the head tube is a thick, glossy, almost opaque blue, fading in transparency until the rear droputs are only metallic silver. (I painted a model '52 Chevy panel truck this color when I was 14 years old and have wanted something more substantial this same color ever since.)

However, I voted for Orange in your poll.

Second choice would be all silver.

i say go with the modern panels. keep the cream but change out the red for something new. the yellow on the RS logos might go nicely with a black matching the RS inside.

i also like the idea of a tan that would match match a brooks saddle and tape. with all the color matching these days. frame / saddle / bar tape with silver stem / bars / post could be pretty slick.

I agree, I'm not sure what the original color was. It's an early 80's bike. It will probably be sold, so a popular color is fine with me.

That is ironic. Grant had us debate with him for over a year on the color of his sachs. I don't think he took anybody's advice. He chose wisely.

I'll make the decision by the weekend. I may go with this (http://www.flickr.com/photos/11397373@N03/1119922662/in/set-72157601448103573/), but it looks like orange has the lead right now.
