I recently built up a Riv Ramboulliet and am preparing to mount a set of hammered Honjos on it, but would love to see how others have set up the fenders on their bikes (stay lines, amount of fender in front of the front brake, etc.). Plus, fender bikes are just plain cool IMO, especially as we roll into the winter and early spring riding season.
I'd love to see some pics of your fender bikes, both because they're neat and to help me finalize my project. All posts are greatly appreciated.

Photos of my Tournesol are here (http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=28608). Sorry it's a bit hard to see the fenders. These are Berthoud 40mm... I've actually used the Honjo hammered 43mm on my Riv Romulus with good results, but I don't have photos of that bike.

There are good instructions on the Jitensha site as well as Peter White's. I think you can place the fenders "by eye". Just spend a lot of time futzing, and all will be well.

Good luck, and let us see some pics when you're done!

found a pic of my Davidson for you. 40mm Berthouds with Pasela 28s under them. A little devil on my shoulder says the bike might want to be the color of that truck someday.

Here's a great fender thread from last spring. Personally I'd like to see that one keep going.

Those are Honjo fenders. Available, but not widely. Do a search - they're out there. Something of a pain to mount.

I'd put up a pic of my Rambouillet, but Erin did it for me. That's almost identical to the way mine used to look, except I have black fenders on mine. It would look different in person, but not much in the photo. These days, it's running as a fixie with a bullhorn bar, but otherwise still looks the same. Mine is also one of the original orange ones, 60 cm.

Two really good places to get Honjos are Jitensha Studios in Berkeley CA and Velo Orange in Annapolis MD.

Ray is right, they do take effort to mount. Instructions are available on Jitensha's web site and on the Velo Orange blog. I found that mounting them was time consuming and a bit fiddly, but not beyond my very limited skills (I don't do hardware, period). The slowest bit is you have to temporarily install the fender, mark the location for the next hole, remove, drill, reinstall, mark the location of the next hole, repeat as necessary. On and off at least three times, maybe 4 per fender.

But when you're done, they look great, they don't rattle, and the coverage (protection from road water) is simply astonishing if your standard of comparison is plastic fenders like SKS.

Here's a picture of my Kirk (http://forums.thepaceline.net/showpost.php?p=328444&postcount=27) . I agree about the Hono's being a pita to mount but take your time and the end result is well worth the effort.

The other day I saw a fender piano, but it was really a relabled Baldwin. Pianos shouldn't be painted sunburst, and I'm really glad the who never tried to push one off the stage. What? Wrong type of fender?? Never mind!

I also have a Ram and I set it up with Berthoud fenders. I used the little L brackets (http://www.velo-orange.com/hofebr.html) to mount the rear fender over the sliding bracket. I heard mixed accounts of the sliding brackets. You can get the L brackets from Jitensha or Velo Orange. I like the set up but I'm not certain if I loose any space using the L bracket b/c of the bolts used to attach it to the fender. I usually ride with Rolly Polly's but have also ran the Tufo D28 and have had plenty of room for both.
