Do they not make a bike sans carbon stays anymore? Both the CDA and the Fierte only show up with carbon seat stays. ATMO that would be sad, but perhaps my navigation of the site is poor.

If you look at the specs on the SE they've got steel stays listed as an option -- my guess is that you just have to ask.

Thanks for the link, I don't know how I missed that one. That's good news. It would be sad if Serotta didn't even offer a full steel frame.

The CDA SE has the option for steel stays.According to my math, that makes the marginal gram worth about -$8.10 =($2,490-$2,895)/50g.

The other side of inflation, imo.

My buddy asked me why I did not get an all steel bike like my Schwinn Paramount since I like steel so well. I have the 2005 Fierte with a carbon fork. My answer was that was the way it came but I wished it was all steel.

The guys at my LBS say a carbon fork is much more preferable than steel. Opinions?

Of course it is, it's bling, has a good margin, and is easy for them to get. What are their options for selling high end steel forks?
