There are other Brit track bikes i'd choose over the Paul Smith Mercian.

CondorCycles had a cool looking plated bike at the London show a couple of weeks ago:

This is going back some 20-25 years, but a friend of mine had a Mercian touring frame (531 I believe) that I rode from time to time. Though I am not necessarily the touring type, I thought that it rode and handled well for its intended use. Moreover, given the number of miles he logged on the Mercian, the bike was obviously well crafted.

yeah, I was in London last week and saw a whole rack full of cool Condors. I never really knew about them before, but they do all sorts of neat stuff with steel.

The front wheel looks like it is rubbing against the downtube in the picture you linked.

sorry, no, I really should have, but they were on a high rack side by side. I was impressed by the variety--some quite traditional, others that were tigged and reminded me of a Pinarello Opera or something.
I got some Colnagos though if you're interested.
