how do you decide whether you want opaque paint or metallic paint?

RudAwkning said in his thread on his totally cool new Kirk, "kept flipping back and forth between metallic and wet. After I was told JB could do stencils I decided to go with something that had a little flake in it, as the logos would pop harder in the sun"

what do you think about when choosing between opaque and metallic?

you can do one color flake and one normal.

My opinion (and it should not be worth much, even .02) is that bikes should not look like Bass Boats. A little sparkle is good, just stay away from drowning the thing in sparkle paint. The frame should not look like it was painted in a strip club.

Wow, I'd love to see a series of photos depicting all those different finishes, so I could see the difference between them! I thought some of those were essentially just different names for the same thing.

. . had some bikes a few years back that featured red or blue paint jobs with the big "bass boat" flakes in the paint. They definitely did not strike me as attractive.

Here's a link to a page that has some photos of one in blue . . .

Keirin bikes should be granted an exception atmo.

It's all good fun to me. Everyone should feel free to like what they like.

I'm digging the Zanc stuff, maybe because it's like my sachs with a twist. I also like how Baylis does his DT decal panel. It's a classy option.

Mr. Greene's opinion is correct, atmo.

The Nag in that second link is channeling Xanadu...

I've found it much easier to touch-up paint with a solid color
