It's a great song. So is Clarkesville. They were totally fake but they had great pop masterminds behind them for a while. No shame in singing that stuff.

Mickey Dolenz=Circus Boy, but only Sachs would know that in this group. (I think he auditioned for it and lost.)

iirc, there was actually a grassroots organization called Concerned Mothers Of Monkee Fans that sprang up during that tour specifically to protest the inclusion of Mr. Hendrix in that otherwise wholesome show. Something about not wanting their 10-year-old daughters to witness this acid-crazed afro'd hippie humping his guitar.

which l.a. studio musician during the 60's DIDN'T do session work for the monkees? they all got on that gravy train for real...
