On our after ride discussion today at Brugger's the topic of where you keep your bike came up. Garage, in the house, in the living room, etc...

SPOKES says that Richard stays in his bedroom on a RACK>>....

My Kirk stays in the living room with a nice view of the fireplace. (If I had a Sachs, that's where it would be too)

(There's an ulterior reasoning. The bike room is in the basement and it's sort of a narrow/short stairway...so it's a pain to take the bike downstairs. This way I can just roll out the front door.)

And I can't leave it outside...there's a batch of kids who run a bike chop shop in the area...

wherever they land atmo - Ahhh, but we missed the part where the racers are setting the bikes down... verrry, verrry gingerly under the watchful eye of the master...

If you scratch them, you've bought them. Isn't that the rule?

Actually, what richard posted was the beginning of a post-race cleansing ritual. The team Subaru, diven by the lovely Deb, is about to back up over those bikes, and new ones will be presented in another ritual.

Why do you think the wait is six years? It's so ritualized.

Physically, under lock and key in a locked garage.

Emotionally, right behind my wife and kid...but definitely in front of the cat.

All my bikes are hanging from the wall in the garage. I have a pulley mechanism I designed and use for my tandem. It's actually off the wall and about 5ft. above the ground.

Garage is typically secured with lazy boy electric garage door openers. But then, occassionally, the kids will take off (without anybody else home) leaving one of the two doors completely open for anyone to come by and help themselves. :crap: This fact drives me nuts because replacement value of the hardware in there is well over $20,000. :butt:

My Holland is in the front room on an oak bike stand with 1 of husbands' road bikes. My Trek and hubby's other road & mountain bikes in garage on bike stands. We were laughing just the other day that we'll have to move to a bigger place just to house all the bikes we have/want.

Why else would any of us need a bigger house :D :D :D (and a wine cellar would be required also.) Thanks for those great shots of the wine country. PETE

No sign of bikes inside the luv shack.

As a single guy, I know the ladies don't really dig toys in the hall,
or bike posters on the walls.

Don't own a Sachs. Got a nice bike with Sachs lugs, though. It lives in my basement bike empire: workbench, shelves, beer-filled mini fridge. The invaders (boxes and boxes of family crap) are always at the castle walls, but I fight them valiantly.

I'll tell you a little something you might not know about those Sachs cats.

They tie those bikes to the backs of their cars with lengths of rope and pull 'em around like a bunch of newlyweds on their way to the Starlight Motel.

When they get up to speed those frames start bouncing like rats on a hot griddle.

Wouldn't have believed it myself until I saw it with my own eyes up there in Glawstah.

My three bikes reside in my bedroom, beside my bed as that is the only place they'll fit in my small three room apartment. I have gotten odd looks from females when they see them there, worst part is having to sleep on that side of the bed so they can get up in the middle of the night if need be.

One day I'll have a place big enough that they get their own room again.

When I was a kid in Bethesda, there was a bike shop with a lot of really upscale Italian racing bikes hanging on all of the walls. I remember drooling over a deep blue Bottechia that was over $600. Ever since then I have wanted a room with bikes and/frames all over the walls, kind of like Darren CT above, but more of them. With a few plasma screens thrown in for good measure.

:( Low ceilings and small rooms make this difficult, plu slandlord would probably not like it.

Only good news is that I don't live in a basement and live in a great neighbourhood.

For most of the year, my bikes humbly hang out (http://forums.thepaceline.net/showpost.php?p=196776&postcount=9) in the basement. When I have the house to myself during the summer, though, they've been known to come upstairs and share the living room...

LOL! I had the same deal with my wife, and I built a recording studio...except right now I have these two bicycles hanging from the ceiling of the recording studio, and I'm dismantling & selling off several racks worth of recording equipment in order to make space for more bikes!

When clients look at them funny I insist that bicycle wheels provide excellent acoustic diffusion.

We must think alike! We have two cellars..one large one for serious long term cellaring is in the garage along with our bikes (no room for a car, just bikes and wine!!) and a much smaller one is under the stairs for those precious fully matured wines that have moved from the large cellar and are ready to be enjoyed.

You're welcome for the pics; we had a fabulous time even though it was too quick a trip. Danced until my legs cramped (3 hrs. straight). I should've brought my electrolite jelly belllies and eaten them like I do on the bike.

I usually keep it in the house. It seems to get along well with the piano and I think it brings a little sophistication to the joint.
Also, I've run out of hooks in the garage and and I just know that I won't get around to installing another hook out there for a few years - at least.

er....don't mean to dig up this old thread but I am glad richie pal gave me the "permission" to hang the RS up on the wall beside the Cyfac carbon bike and the MX Leader, no special treatment required. :D

Took the bike out again on Saturday morning, pretty much dialed in, swapped out the front wheel with another one to see if it "improves" the ride and it kinda did. I am happy.
