You know that stupid insert thats glued in, instead of a regular compression plug in the steer tubes of these things. What the heck can you glue them back in with when they inevitably pull out??? :crap:

Any ideas, cause I dont want to be the guy who melts his fork due to some funky chemical reaction with the wrong epoxy?

I would say contact TT; they might send you the epoxy or at least tell you what you should buy..

The older ones (pre tt) used jb weld. Stronger than bailin' wire.

Would any old 2 part epoxy work?

JB Weld is best but any ol' 2-part epoxy should work fine.

True Temp shipped a bunch with some - ahem - substandard glue a while back. Maybe that's the problem?

Sand, clean with alcohol (the steerer, not your palate), and re-glue.

JB Weld was included with my fork. It has worked perfectly. 4 years.

make sure to sand the steerer tube thoroughly or else the insert will not hold.I've been through this. I have no problems now. I would not substitute another style of insert either. Definitely a great fork though

...and double check your steerer length / spacers / stem to be certain everything is proper. The insert should not pull out after all the pre-load on a CK headset is 4-10 inch lbs...that's not enough force to yank that insert out. Read the "final assembly" section of the following: http://www.chrisking.com/pdfs/TechServiceManual.pdf

Loctite 2 parts plastic epoxy in the conveniant sqeeze tube!, lightly sanded and wiped down with acetone. Rock solid this morning and hopefully holds up with time. Thanks for all the instant feedback
