do tan sidewall tires look good on titanium bikes? if so, what are the best performing options?

Yes.
Veloflex.

Depends on the wheels, atmo.

Deda Corsa RS are nice tires, i've found them much easier to mount on rims
than the veloflex, which broke all my tire levers, and now I don't have any :(

I like tan sidewalls with Mavic CD anodized rims.

Second that. I think tan sidewalls will look fine with a bare ti frame. Especially one that fits larger tires and fenders, and has tan bar tape, and measures 61x59 or so...

I don't have a problem with it.

Short sideburns work fine for me and my ti-mix frame

Oh sorry I misread the thread!

Never mind :)

The owners who judiciously mix the best of "old" and "new" cycling technology consistently produce the best looking bikes on this forum, imho. Tan sidewalls on a Ti frame would be a good step in that direction.

That said, though I prefer the looks of the tan Veloflex Pave sidewalls, from a practical standpoint I find the tan sidewalls seem more delicate than the black versions. The black coating that Veloflex uses seems to strengthen and protect the sidewalls a bit, keeping the casing from fraying and tearing when scuffed.

And Grant, I find I can mount a brand new Veloflex clincher with my fingers if I just rub a little soapy water on the tire bead.

Grant, I'll see you tan-sw/CD's and raise you tan sidewalled Racing Ralph's on FMB casings with Nemesis rims...

;)

Tan sidewalls rock just about any bike btw, but as Grant pointed out, look especially pro on non-machined rims...

Some are really tight. I recently had a batch that were at least 1cm smaller in diameter than
a vittoria corsa cx. tiiiiiiiiight!

Just to be different, I think I'll add my $ 0.02:

I regularly ride a bike with mismatched tires and even mismatched wheels , so this sort of thing is not terribly important to me, but if you really want my opinion, I think tan sidewalls do indeed look better on "old-school look" bikes (read steel, or painted Ti / CF). On an unpainted Ti frame I would go with either blackwall tires, or blackwall with a stripe that matches another accent color on the frame.
