I only heard a snip this morning on NPR. It got me ruminating about how wonderful "OK Computer" is, and singing "Airbag (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oo3ZnHJ0KTQ)" to myself in my head on the train...

But I didn't hear enough to form any useful opinion. Not yet.

"...You do it to yourself, you do. And that's why it really hurts..."

I love Radiohead.

I've already listened to it 3 times -- I like almost everything they put out and this is no exception. Now I am listening to some Beethoven (later piano sonatas and the 9th sym.).

Did you buy it off their wacky website www.inrainbows.com

Does it work? Painfully slow. Can you get it into itunes with everything else I own?

Heard 1 track on kexp this morning and decided it's one I want to have. Right for the rainy days of autumn.

yeah -- i pre-ordered it and just clicked the link they sent me today. it downloaded really quickly (one or two minutes at the most) as a zip file. then it was good-to-go with itunes.

what did you pay?

I paid 8 pounds...I really want their system to work out and for their attempts at cracking the major music labels to succeed.

You guys support this simply for what it would do to the pop dominated music scene.

I paid 5 pounds, figuring I'll buy the actual CD when it comes out in a couple months.

The files are unzipped in MP3 format, which you can stick in iTunes and convert if you want.

did it. Paid the equivalent of iTunes. Fascinating experiment. Good album as well

If they'd just put out a disc with nice cover art for $20, I'd buy it.

I guess I just need to learn to be more of an iperson.

I'm been trying on and off all afternoon to buy it, but the website keeps timing out, or something. I guess that means lots of people are buying their album. Hope it's good. The way they are selling it seems brilliantly simple (though it would help if the website worked properly).

It's worth it. I want to listen to it again. I need to find the good headphones ;)

Go to kexp.org and use their streaming archive feature. You can check their playlist, or you can choose your player and select start times (all AM times) of 8:00, 8:18, 9:07, and 9:45.

I just did the download. Completely painless, whole process took less than ten minutes, and the download itself maybe 60 seconds. I'm listening to track 3 right now. Nice.

Agree and you have to like how they have released the album.

While we're OT, how do you guys feel about the album. This is a great band who's music is complex and beautifully layered. That being said, I feel like it's not as powerful an album as Hail to the Thief of OK Computer. Way mellower and more contemplative. Only on listen #2 so I'll get a better feel for it in a couple of days but was wondering what others were thinking.

P.S. Sounds like Nine inch Nails is following suit on ditching the record labels.

Never a band to stand still, this album seems pretty minimalist when compared to Hail to the Thief, which itself was different to their previous two offerings. That said, I really quite like it.

All I Need is stuck in my head. Contemplative and mellow is fine by me.

Way mellower and more contemplative.

That's an understatement.... I listened to it all the way thru for the 1st time today, and I'm pretty sure I didn't hear a single note from a distorted (well, you know, as in classic rock and roll distortion) guitar!

If this was Radiohead's only album, they might not even be classified as "rock"

But I do like it....

Pablo Honey is one of my all time faves. The new one hasn't really stuck on me yet. I'll listen to it some more though.

I love the way they have released the music. They will win over old fans and new.

Okay, two days and 5-10 listens later and I can say that this is a great album. It's so different that I was taken aback and maybe even a little disapointed to begin. I was ready for depressing, angry, typical radiohead music. The highs and lows of OK computer aren't present and without the changes of pace I was thrown aback

That being said, the album finishes and I continually play it over again and again. It has all of the complexity that earlier works have but flows unlike their previous albums in a manner that begs for continual listens.

Where the earlier albums from Kid A and Hail to the Thief were warm up songs before a cross race this is a post race chill out album. What do the rest of you guys think?
