1) Entering the small locker room facility late Monday afternoon to see Vervecken, and only Vervecken, sitting there on a bench buttoning the last button before dinner. Then, having the champ initiate an extended conversation with me about MY race and MY results. Just the two of us. For a long time. Holy sh&%$t!

2) Having Katie Compton parked in the spot next to me, sitting there on our car bumpers talking it up about all matter of things like she was a best friend.

3) Not being able to catch the guy who built my wheels, even though he was just ahead, just ahead (just couldn't get through those #@%$&! sandy turns...).

4) E-Ritchie giving my bro-in-law some swag, and not having a darn thing left for me.

I brought my wife and 4 kids to the Sunday race. My 6 year old almost took out the 2 Kona boys and the World Champ in a sandy corner back in the woods. His definition of "back up" is very different from mine.

Once we climbed the hill and got closer to the action, they had a good time.

Great racing by the pros; the lead must have changed hands 20 times.

ready to kick some grandpa as-s in gloucester atmo.
i tanked it yesterday and quit on lap 4.
went to car.
put on road wheels.
and left the venue for another hour.
that day 2 course got in my head.


ps hey theprep sorry i missed meeting you there atmo.

I was looking for you Sunday afternoon.

I overheard 2 fools saying your bikes were too heavy. I wanted to point them out to you so we could lump em up.

I hope Long Island was good to you and you enjoyed your stay. It was so hot you could have gone to the beach.

p.s. I loved the first race shot - as the pack comes storming down the straightaway, a dragonfly flits by the camera... These are great quality movies, atmo. What's the deal?
