As a messenger, what kind of wheel do you use? What would be you perfect wheel. And I am talking specific wheels. If you say custom, then tell me the builder. I am just wondering. I have some Mavics and I cannot keep them true for the life of me.

ahhh I used to just ride what ever cheap track wheels I could buy for around 90 bucks cost. i was fond of cxp22's to formula hubs. The wheels I had the longest were open pro's to phil track hubs. lasted 2 years and 2 cross seasons before I had to just trash the rims.

It's been a while since I've been paid to haul anything, but Phil Wood to Velocity Deep Vs are my favorites, and I'm about to have a new pair built up for my fixie commuter.

Phil Wood seems a good place to start. Fixie/ss rear wheels are inherantly stronger as they are not dished.

I seem to have luck with lots of rims, slasa delgados, open pros.....

I dont want pot holes to break my wheel, I want my wheel to break the pot hole! :crap:

Just for clarification. I am not a messanger. I am desk jockey with a penchant for bunny hopping on roadie frames.

I had a pair of deep v's that when I crashed into a 2 foot curb my fork and frame were toast, but my wheel was pretty close to true

For clinchers, do check out the new deep-profile DT clincher rims. Amazing rims with great quality and much better than CXP33's and god knows, better than Velocity Deep V's. DT really hit it on the nose with these rims. They don't come better.

Ride whatcha got! My Steamroller has a set of Suntour high flange track hubs (late 70's vintage) with a set of Mavic Mod3CD's laced X4, 36 spoke with 33c cross tires. Good thing there are no potholes in the Boston area...

If you can still find them Weinmann concave was a stout rim. Had a pair, (still going strong actually) on my old Motobecane. Takes potholes, curbs, bunny hops, dirt roads, sticks and stones, name calling...with nary a whimper. I was always surprised with the weinmanns. Kinda heavy but there are usually trade-offs for such endurance.
