As I was saying over there in the "I think we're being watched..." thread, I was just at our library, which is nearly the finest library I've ever had the pleasure to be Shhhh'd at, except their bike stand stinks. I think it was built circa the mtb period because the tire spacings are pretty wide and my bike wants to flop over in it. Anyway, I want to send the director a nasty letter and suggest a new model. There are some restrictions: it has to be free standing (the library already went through a major renovation, they are not about to make holes in the cement, near the entry.); it has to be one sided since it will be pressed up against the building and luckly under the eave; and it has to be 6-8 feet long only, maybe store 4-5 bikes at a time. Granted, that's not much space for bikes, but at best I think I've seen 3 bikes stuck in it at any one time.

Bike racks should be designed to take bikes with thin or thick tread, big wheels and small, fenders and racks.

So...any of you folk have a make and model recommendation?
