Coy is tenacious with a capitol "T"!!! You should have seen him going after my bag of Kettle corn after he was done racing his heat at the Cross Nats last year at Roger Williams. Thought I was going to lose a finger.....

I thought that you were supposed to ride cross bikes hard. Why is everyone carrying them over the obstacles? Nice photos gang.

there was only one guy that I know of that rode fixed and that course was perfect for it. the race was billed as a dirt crit and there was no obstacles. It was just a series of farm roads. I showed up with a knife to a gun fight. I had a 34x16 on the bike. the best gearing was a 42x17. The reason my hands are so close together is i'm turning 130 rpms on dirt. consequently, my ride was bumpier than most. I still managed a smack in the middle of the field placing.

About the Vanillas. There was probably more Vanillas in that field than any other bike brand, but that's Portland. It truly is Vanilla land and everyone of them is a bit different and reflects the owner's personal tastes.

I have a Kelley Knoby X SS with a real high bottom bracket to accomodate 180 mm crank arms. On a normal cross course, with a 34x16 it's a nice compromise between not being over geared on the up grades and not being under geared on the flats. However, Saturday, I looked like a zebra clad egg beater.

I am waiting for the pride of lions to jump out of the bushes and pounce on the zebra.
October 6th is our first race around here.
Wait for it...wait for it...wait for it

Too dry for 'cross, no?

Someone forget to turn on the sprinklers?

John, we are not pulling out THE KITS for a training ride, we need to save them for the real deal, Seattle this weekend and beyond.

Did you all notice Terry's glasses? Those belong to my 15 year old daughter. She got em for $10 at rite aid. Terry found them in the door of my truck and said they are perfect for the new kit. Quite the style.
