and I rode my first cross race of the year at The Sucker Brook Cross in Auburn, NH.

There were several Serottas and a bunch of forum folks there.

I had my first e-richie sighting of the season

Also sighted were 93degrees, Zanc and Mrs.Zanc, mmyette, and SEROTTA JAMES on his pink HSG Cross.

There was a rider ther named Carl Ring with a beautiful Legend cross that had been repainted in the UNH Cycling Team colors. VERY pretty.

The course was flat and fast and would have lent itself perfectly to the single speed Zanc except for a sand pit. The narrower cross tires (Schwalbe Fast Freds) sunk down and stopped while the fatter tires on the Concours cross (Schwalbe Racing Ralphs) made the sand pit ridable.

There is something just so right about crisp autumn days, a touch of color in the trees, and a cross bike.

I went to my first cross race this weekend in Michigan. It was awesome. I'm trying to convince my wife to let me get a cross bike. I may do a couple races on my mountain bike, and just add different tires. What a cool sport though. It is basically grown men playing in the mud and muck on bikes.

Super sweet day for a cross race. The weather was almost too nice. I had Twizzlers in the car and the kid ate them on the way up to meet me in the afternoon. I'll buy two packs for Maine or Gloucester!

Autumn in new york
Why does it seem so exciting (inviting)
Autumn in new york
It spells the thrill of first-knighting

Shimmering clouds - glimmering crowds (glittering crowds and shimmering clouds)
In canyons of steel
They’re making me feel - I’m home

It’s autumn in new york
That brings a (the) promise of new love
Autumn in new york
Is often mingled with pain

Dreamers with empty hands
(they) all sigh for exotic lands

(but) it’s autumn in new york
It’s good to live it again

This autumn in new york
Transforms the slums into mayfair
Autumn in new york
You’ll need no castles in spain

Lovers that bless the dark
On benches in central park

(but) it’s autumn in new york
It’s good to live it again

(- in new york)
cheers nice fotos cute kid nice bike

Is there anywhere i can find a cross race schedule for local events in New England and NY? I'm too fat and slow to race this year, but I still want to watch a few...

The bikereg.com website has some.

The NEBRA website seems to have more this year so far.

www.cyclocrossworld.com usually has a calendar as well.

The VERGE New England series has it's own website (I think).

That should get you started.

BK

PS: Who says you're too slow and fat to come out and have some fun in the dirt and mud? Not us. :D

NE-BRA is easy to read at a glance:
http://www.ne-bra.org/pages/calendar/showCalendar.asp?rtype=Cross&mmm=0

and there's always bikereg.com which takes gives you access to more info too.

You can imagine MY surprise at reading that! For a moment I believed in a parallel universe.

My only 'cross showing of the year will be one of the days at Gloucester as a spectator, and since nobody but the jerk knows what I look like I'd have to recognize one of you first. You've had you picture up a few times Bruce so I might have a shot.

Not this year. :crap:

It's my hometown race but it's Parent's Weekend at Daniel Webster College so we will be commuting back and forth to Nashua, NH.

You could come join us for the Tour du Bivalve... :D

So Brockton is the City of Champions? Good to know.

...I'll be lucky to make it to one or two races this fall. I'll be out of town much more than I'd like during October & November. Too bad. I had a wicked pissah* time at Nats last year.
