I'm hoping you guys can help me out. I'm converting my wife's Trek 420 to a singlespeed and have switched the wheels to 700c. I now need a set of long reach brakes (which is cool) but the front is recessed while the rear is nutted. What do I do?

Here's a neat trick: swap the front and rear brake calipers...

There should be enough threads on the front caliper center bolt to use on the rear
with a nut. Order an extra long allenkey fitting with enough threads to hold
the rear caliper through the fork crown. QBP sells one for about $6 (part # BO1502)
that your shop should be able to order, and it's 30mm long. should be able
to catch enough theads through the crown, but measure first. you may even
need to trim the 30mm bolt if it's too long.
