This kind of crap (http://www.al.com/news/press-register/index.ssf?/base/news/118900170872790.xml&coll=3&thispage=1) just sickens me. The kid that did it killed another cyclist two years ago. To make it even stranger the guy he killed two years ago's wife was killed on a bike as well; right there in the same area. Be careful out there. Please.

Makes you wonder if the kid meant to do it. :crap:

I wonder if that kid even has a conscience. I don't believe in corporal punishment, but the actions of some folks out there sure test that belief.

he should not be allowed behind the wheel again - ever. Make him ride a bike for the rest of his life.

I do.

A brilliant young physicist is dead cause he was a cyclist.
David Ryan was working on next generation imaging at GE.
His inventions would have saved many lives.
His executioner, Joshua Paniccia, had a history of reckless driving.

David was unique, even his Professors at Oxford knew this.

I can't imagine saying, "Have a nice ride" to your loved one and never seeing them again. This is horrible. Especially with the previous incident.

I do.

AR,

So would that include daily lashings from a cat-o-nine-tails and the occasional keel hauling, or just a one-time pulling of finger nails?

I don't think I want to ride around Mobile.

So would that include daily lashings from a cat-o-nine-tails and the occasional keel hauling, or just a one-time pulling of finger nails?

Why not use a muscle car and do a wheel stand on his toes and lay rubber up to his nose.

he should not be allowed behind the wheel again - ever. Make him ride a bike for the rest of his life.According to the article..."As the result, it was unclear whether Ballard had a valid drivers license." He might not have had a drivers license when this crash occurred. And he was intoxicated at 9am! This guy clearly has no respect for the law or his fellow beings.

The picture of the kid in the paper made him really look like a dirtbag. This was front page news, which is kind of suprising down here. I guess the magnitude and the horrific odds of him having done this twice, with three deaths as a result, now is what makes it so tragic.

The kid's 19 and hopeless.

Here's some more information (http://www.nbc15online.com/news/local/story.aspx?content_id=25827cad-4fa5-4186-8600-bed578aa4237&rss=217) on the story including a video of the accused and a news report. There is also a ride this Saturday for the cyclists who were killed, here's the details (http://www.al.com/news/mobileregister/index.ssf?/base/news/1189070877272930.xml&coll=3)

One more thing that I learned from the articles is that he hit them head on!

As of yesterday the ass hat started serving 40 years for mowing down 2 guys labor day weekend '07. He may get out sooner than that, but at least they put him in a bad place... Holman State prison is no picnic.

Quite a few of the guards ride there too. Maybe they'll make him feel more welcome.

Tragic and sickening. 40 years for, what's now, 3 lives? That doesn't seem right. The loss for the loved ones is far greater.

Personally I'd rather see him live 40yrs in hell than getting a quick exit via execution. Hopefully someone makes him their bitch from day one and he spends most of his time deciding between syrup or jelly.

He deserves life with no parole. He killed three persons in two years while under the influence. IMO, he has used up his opportunity to learn from the first murder. No second chance should be given.
