Messenger bags

School has started again which means a 45-50 minute commute to and from school every day. I need a messenger bag that is comfortable over a long day of classes. What is your favorite bag?

Custom RE-Load deluxe messenger is my favorite, though they make a nice backpack as well. Love this bag and the company, Roland and Ellie support local races and stand behind their product.

All bags are made in their shops in Philly and Seattle, and I prefer to spend my money there than on a big outsourced company.

Makes the one that I use. . .

It's AWESOME because it's indestructible and totally waterproof.

The only problem, is the plastic clasp at the top of the strap digs into ya in a most uncomfortable fashion if it's not loaded up with stuff.

If the fact that it's waterproof and has a really smart inside design is important to ya, I wouldn't not recommend it :cool:

Chrome or ReLoad would be my first pick. Also Manhattan Portage has some good stuff for the student/laptop crowd. Patagonia Critical Mass Bag is another. :)

Thanks, of the mentioned brands Chrome and Manhattan Portage seem the best. I like the substantial strap designs of both.

Suit yourself, but the RELoad comes with a movable shoulder pad at the corner of the bag which is a great design. Clipped description from their site.

Messenger pad*: An integrated shoulder pad that softens not only the strap, but also the corner of the bag that sits on your shoulder. Completely radio holder-compatible, and movable. So when you have a box in your bag and the strap is all the way out, your radio won't be somewhere over your shoulder. Good stuff.

I just got one and it's fantastic. Brilliantly designed so you don't really need a chest strap. This is definitely the best bag I've used.
