And so soon. Fortunately it was at the rotary near my house, unfortunately with cars zipping everywhere. Fortunately tubular blow out is much less scary, I've also blown a clincher in that rotary (beneath the BU Bridge).

I filled the tire with PitStop, no mess but I think the gash may be too big. Didn't really seal the hole. Oh well, now I need another set of rims to stretch my new tubulars!

this last weekend on the gutcheck
(435 miles/48 hour ride across south dakota/
fundraiser for crohn's disease)
my support vehicle had just left me
to go on ahead to cook up some food.
soon after, my back wheel started to fishtail a bit.
the tire was very 'squishy' but not completely flat
so i decided to ride it in
rather than stop on the reservation to change it out
in the pouring rain and cold wind.
i was able to make it to the next town -- 7 miles -- to eagle butte,
had lunch and warmed up in the r.v.
while my riding partner changed out the flat for me
with a prestretched/preglued spare veloflex carbon
that got me down the road for the remainder of my ride.
was i ever happy to be riding tubulars!
thanks too tall, et al!!

What a great story and testimony to those few of us who ride tubulars. Who else has a great story.

Great to hear that Pit Stop helped (at least to get home). I've had so few flats with tubular (hear that knocking on wood) that for most rides all I carry it Pit Stop to get me home. For centurys or really long rides I carry a prestretched tubular.

More Stories! :D
