was the most gorgeous harlequin/titanium painted CSI with an F1 fork. that was before I understood my fit needs. It went on the block and I have not treated myself to anthoer Serotta since. But now know what works for me and know I can find it in a myriad of different custom and off the rack ways. The Big S may now be too rich for my blood. I moved over to Sacramento Steve and would go back in a second.

Yep, a '94 Colorado TG. Had a much newer C III for awhile but it was a bit too small. The current owner LOVES it.

Rode for an hour with my wife (in the rain) today on the TG. Back 13 years ago I wonder if the craftsman welding up that wonderful frame had any clue as to how much fun it would bring someone... many years later.

Yes, I have more expensive bikes now. But none is really a better bike. Faster, yes, but not better...

It's even a blast to wipe it down. :p

When I bought mine, it was by assuring my wife that:

A) it was the last road bike I would ever need
B) it was a present to myself for a promotion

So, I obviously need to get another promotion....

1.) 2004 62 cm stock CSI with a very nice custom fade paint scheme, built up as a fixed gear and available for sale. F2 fork

2.) 1999 62 cm custom Hors Categorie with a custom JB paint scheme built up as a climbing bike with a 10 speed Dura Ace Triple. F1 fork. Never for sale.

3.) 2007 62 cm custom Ottrott reverse decal etched scheme built with D/A 10 triple. F3 fork.

Sold:

1.) 2003 Ottrott custom with F3 fork

2.) 1999 Hor Categorie

3.) 2001 Legend with Joe Bell paint

No more planned Serotta purchases in the near future.

Again, CSI is still for sale.

I own a Seven Axiom but if I had it to do again, or if I buy another soon, it would be a Serotta. I don't really think Serotta builds a better bike than Seven, Moots, etc. but this forum has really attracted me all the more to Serotta. Seven forced an earlier forum to stop hosting one dedicated to that brand with the arguement that they were going to start their own. Well, that was years ago and they still don't have one. The posts by Serotta Pete and Andrew really reinforce the feeling that Serotta is just a class act through and through. I was hit by a car 3 weeks ago and, while in the ER, I actually started thinking of getting measured for a Legend or Concours but my Axiom frame took the abuse in stride. The same cannot be said for my wheels. Ugh.

No; I don't own a Serotta. But what I do have from Serotta, none of you do-

I was dating a woman from the Albany area. One night she kindly went with me to Steiner's Sports, which was holding a Serotta seminar with Ben present. Titanium was a new material to Serotta then, and it was on display. They even passed around a tube section to fondle.

Sometime shortly afterwards, we were having a discussion about wedding rings, etc., and I said I would want titanium wedding bands.

Smart alec that she was/is, she called Serotta and somehow got them to cut a couple sections of seatstay/chainstay material for wedding bands, and gave them to me.

I never used them, but I still have them.

I don't have her anymore either but thanks, Suzanne.

My 2001 Concours ti is honestly a perfect fit for me despite my relative lack of substantial time with a proper fitter prior to purchasing it.

While I'll get a second bike at SOME point (after having learned much more about what characteristics I'd be looking for), which could well be another Serotta (thinking Ottrott), it won't be because my Concours doesn't fit me.

Prolly not $1K, but maybe close,, if you get all new paint on the frame and fork. I recently had Serotta braze on some new top tube cable split stops for my CSI. The work on the new split stops was relatively inexpensive ,,, about $50. The stripping and repaint on the frame and fork was about $550. That was for one color, no lug outlines and minimal decals (Serotta on the downtube, seat tube, chainstay ,, "S" on the fork legs and head tube).

That said, I am _COMPLETELY_ pleased with the result. The bike is better than when I first received it new, back in 1997. I sent in my old F1 fork as well as the frame. Upon close inspection by the techs at Serotta, the fork was found to have a loose dropout. They replaced the fork at no expense, now TEN YEARS LATER, with a brand new Ouzo Pro. To me,, it was money well-spent. I love riding my CSI even more now, than I did then.

Yeah, but ...

I'm on a Serotta streak now, but when I found the board, my main road bike was a Nag which was, and is, IMO, a great bike. Our board's sponsor makes great bikes, and has been at it for a while now, and deserves props for the product and the company, but I never thought these were the only great bikes. I'm glad to spot another Serotta and shoot the shet, but what I like about the board has nothing to do with a "hey, we all ride the same bikes isn't that cute" club (not that there's ... I'm just sayin'). Frankly, I'd just as soon see a mix of bikes on any given ride and if I were to reflect on my closest couple of cycling friends I think I'd notice that they ride something else. What I like most about the board is the mix of folks here. I've met and ridden with some good people, courtesy of this board, and I've found the chatter often entertaining and sometimes genuinely helpful.

Again, I've had a wee sip of the kool bevie, and I am a Serotta owner, and I have an interest in the bikes, but the bikes aren't what get me to log on so many times.

OK Spin-pal. This is getting too weird. I had a 54 Atlanta in red/yellow fad. Are you sure your not me, or me not you? Chimeric twins?

To let the rest of you in on the, uh, joke? I lurked on the old board, signed up to the new board after the meltdown. I picked Spinner as a screen name, and it was available. The real Spinner tried to sign up and his handle was gone. I picked up on his new name, Headset, with the works "formerly Spinner". We corresponded and I asked Serotta James to cancel my Spinner and give it back to HeadSet. Since then we have been chatting back and forth. Seems we are running paraell lives in different universe's. I would not be surprised if we shared the same DNA!

"OldDog" came about when I was changing from Spinner. I needed a handle, and my very old springer was, as usual, lying at my feet. Thus OldDog. Damn, I miss her.

How much $$$ ya gots?

Just askin'

Steve
See, here's the problem: I am still in the "I'm-still-in-love-with-my-Concours" phase.

After I broke my previous promise about not buying another new bike for at least a year, I kind of sort of want to see if I can do it (something I haven't done since 2001).

Then … who knows.

Just answerin' :D

I bought a Serotta before I knew about the forum.

Now Serottas have become a family trhing with my wife and one of my son's having a Serotta.

my wife calls the forum an addiction and that I need to get my daily fix.

Mine:
2001 legend Ti
1980 someting Davis Phinney

Wife:
2002 Colorado III

Son:
1998 Atlanta (my old one handed down)

does everyone own a serotta or are there some of us who want to own one and do not?

sean
No.

p.s. I started posting on the old Kahuna-run phorum in May 2003, shortly after buying my Seven Axiom. I bought my Serotta Nove in December 2005, and the various pieces of my Pegoretti Love #3 between October 2006 and June 2007. The Nove and Love #3 purchases were heavily informed by my participation here.

Me neither. But it really does!

I don't know how one bike can be so plush and so responsive at the same time. It's hard to imagine how the Ottrott could be better, atmo...

Not any more. My Ottrot ST dream bike, complete with Lightweight Obermayers, Zero Grav brakes, Rotor Cranks, Dugast tyres, carbon ti Keos, Deda Synapsi integrated carbon bars, F3 forks and $1000 paint job was stolen. It was too costly to be insureable. I won't be replacing it.

...I have a bike whose frame was built by a guy who used to work with a guy that used to work for Serotta.

Got my first (Uniscasi) thru the forum classifieds this year. Although I didn't buy it new, it does help mitigate my guilt for all the bandwidth I've used around here. :D

Nick H, that sucks - here's hoping your bike finds it's way home somehow.

Oh, man, here's me chiming in with another "What Davids said..." response.

I'm so lame.

But, as another distinguished poster here says, he just gets it.

Dreaming of my Nove after three months on a Scandium rig; which rocks over cobblestones and down freakish descents. But, not as much as the Nove does.

Davids;

I think you are a little taller than me (basically a 53cm frame) or I would let you try out my Ottrott just so you could see if you notice any difference. If you can fit it, we'll have to work on sometime for a demo.

You're a nice guy but the Meivici is "hands off" for a while. ;)

'96 CSi with black and white fade. Not much is more beautiful than a lugged steel frame.

A Legend Ti and an Ottrott ST and I love em both. Also a Litespeed Tuscany and a Ritchey Breakapart. I stumbled onto this board by accident and am so happy that I did. I have learned a lot here. Thanks a bunch.

I Just ordered my first Serotta, a CDA with flames all around! Maybe I'll get it by late September. Waiting sucks.

OK.

Besides, I think I owe you for that asthma inhaler shot at Canton Cross anyways. ;) :D

PM me when we find a date for the ride and we'll work something out.
