Just saw this on the website bikradar.com (which I only know about from an ad in ProCycling), but there is a quick blurb in there about a new road group from Sunrace called DriveN.

For the record, I have no affiliation with Sunrace or Bikeradar.

Personally, I am anti-gold in almost any application, bike or otherwise.

Sunrace goes high-end with new semi-gruppo

The Taiwanese drivetrain manufacturer releases high-end components
The new components from Sunrace are branded as DriveN and are available in road and MTB versions, in alu and carbon.

The DriveN-series include brake lever/gearshifters for 9 and 10-speed compatibility. DriveN-cassettes are available in sandblast satin and tri-nitrite gold finish.

There is a complete programme of front and rear derailleurs for 10/9-speed. The front changers for double and triple chainwheels are for clip or direct mounting.

nothing says when or how much.

Why not? SRAM has proven that the only thing necessary to market yourself at the top end of the market is to price your product accordingly....

It doesn't look anything like SRAM, particularly with respect to the shape of the cranks and shape of the hoods/brifters.

...judgement until there are some real road evaluations. SRAM got a lot of grief for double tap. It works great! The hoods are very comfortable too. People don't like change.

clips-->clipless
friction-->indexing
downtube-->STI (esque)
Tubulars--> decent clinchers
THe big 2--> new players

If it's not for you, don't buy it.

+1

I have a pair of wheels built on Sun Race hubs. The hubs are silky smooth, and they have a highly polished silver finish. They work well and look great. It's too bad they feel they have to jump on the ugly carbon bandwagon, but they are capable of designing some functionally fine products.
