Can any of you vintage bike experts give me a ballpark value for this bike ??
Gios "Super Record"
GP-4 rims on Edco "Competetion" hubs
Cobalto brakes
Super Record Rear Derailleur, Fr. der. and Crankset, seatpost, Headset...
Turbo Saddle
c-record brake levers and hoods...

its got the coins in the fork crowns...
no rust, a few minor scratches

any info would help...thanks !!

Beauty.
They were expensive new. Super high quality. Better than Colnago of the day.
I'd check sell prices on ebay for DeRosa, Cinelli of the same vintage.
Sorry I can't be more helpful than that, but I'm sure there are other forumites with a better idea of an actual #.

I think Fixed is about right ---about $1200--- though it _should_ be worth twice that ---there aren't many buyers left who get it. In this market, you'd be lucky to meet that mark. If you pirate the parts you may get more but that would be a darn shame.

not an expert here

but I have a 54cm model I paid 350 for the f/f. The super record group wheels and parts are worth probably 450 or so. It's a great riding bike.

That's a lovely Gios. I'd estimate its market value around $1,500, but I'm far from an expert on such things. Of course, as dbrk says, it should be worth a lot more.

Someone in Japan recently bought a Gios for $2,200, but the bike's condition was outstanding, and it had some pantographed parts:

thats a nice rig. early 80's? possibly late 70s.
those frames used to come packaged in this big foam box...gigantic. in addition they has a gios jersey, stem and big chainring embossed in the early italian pimp style.
nice stuff.
that thing probably sold for around 1,200 new.
still worth more or less something like that.

The "Super Record" with the coins on the fork crown-like this one- is the Gios to have.....although I prefer the "Stephen Roche" "Compact" with the adjustable rear dropouts....

That bike reminds me of Alexi Grewal's Dad's bike shop in Aspen. His shop was full of those. Ahh, the good old days.

It's a funny thing about Gios....Of course, this is the classic color for one-"Gios Blue"....They also used to be popular in white with Gios Blue decals....but I digress....About every 5-10 years, Mr. Gios would decide that he ought to offer his bikes in other colors...and he would...but nothing would sell but Gios blue!....So, he would stop....and 10 years later he would try again...and then stop....etc....

Thanks for all the info everybody , i really appreciate it !

I bought this bike in '88 , paid about 1500 Canadian for it without the wheels. Its been sitting around for the past 10 years or so, I mostly ride my Mariposa and Marinoni now. I keep telling myself I need to sell it ; it should be ridden, but I just cant bring myself to do it..Was kind of hoping finding out what its worth would help convince me to let it go. ....but I cant pull the trigger !

Thanks again everybody :)

Keep it!! Along with a red Sarroni Colnago and a celeste Bianchi, it doesn't get any better than that!
