Hello,

iīm thinking about mounting a 135mm MTB Hub in my Legend.

What mean the experts here about the 5mm difference?

Is it o.k, or a danger for the Frame?

Thanks

In some cases the hub can be converted to 130mm.

My SpeedDream set of road wheels uses White Industries LTA front hub and W. I. Racer-X mtb rear hub, for more rear wheel strength.
It is a 130mm set up. I don't know if White or Dave Thomas converted it. I believe White did it. They are super strong wheels.

I know of people using 126mm hubs in road frames; I guess the stays could be spread to 135mm, but I would want to ensure the alignment was still good.

Oh simple question, simple answer. :)

Itīs a Chris King Hub in 135mm and itīs really difficult to get the 130 Axle End in europe.

Maybe i try to find a online shop in the US who send to OlīEurope.

Best people to ask are the good folks at Serotta. I asked them about putting a 132.5mm rear hub into an Ottrott ST and they gave me the green light. If I didn't tell anyone the hub was 132.5 no one would notice. It slips right in the frame. I have two hubs like this now.

Generally not a frame issue. Can be an issue with the hub but probably not. It would bug me personally because you'll have to wack the wheel to get it out. That might not bother you though.

I've run 135mm hubs in old Bridgestone MTB's designed for 130mm hubs for years without any adverse effects. Alignment is fine and the stays spring back when the wheel was removed.

If your Legend is made of spreadable steel, then go ahead and widen the rear end and slip that ATB hub in there. The bonus is, the road wheel will have less dish and more even spoke tension, so it should last longer.

My current road bike was built with a 135mm rear end and I have a Phil Wood cassette hub installed. That wheel just keeps going without any maintenance.

If your Legend is made of spreadable steel, ....

I'm assuming his Legend is Ti. Would that be considered "spreadable"?
