View Full Version : Pegoretti Repaint?

My Peg is really starting to look beat, and I'd like to get it repainted.

Has anyone else done this?

If so, did you send it to Italy to have Dario do it, or did you have it done here in the States?

If you sent it to Italy, was it a fiasco?

If done on this side of the pond, who did it? Were you happy with the result?

I had a Fina repainted by Airglow in Georgia. They did a good job, though not JB quality.

Tom K out of PA (Spectrum Cycles) does an outstanding job of painting. You will not know it from new (or maybe the paint will even be better than when new :D )

It's aluminum, and it's pretty beat. A pro racer used it as his training bike last year, so it's seen lots of miles already.

I'll certainly keep him in mind - thanks.

Curt Goodrich is local to me. Has anyone seen his work?

I think Curt's frames are painted by JB or Peter Weigle.

Any idea what I should expect this to cost? His website doesn't seem to say.

JB appears to be $300-450.

yeah -- didn't mean to be a smart ***, but curt is one of the great living frame builders in america. i am also pegoretti man, myself, and would send it back to dario if he would be willing to do it, but i don't think he is doing stuff like that right now. i'm sure you'd be more than happy with jb.

I talked to JB recently about repainting my Peg, and I *think* he said that he has the logo stencils and such... He also said that he and Dario are pals and he could probably source from him anything that might be needed.

You gotta be ok with a bit of a wait though...

Good luck

as wonderful as a jb paint job is, be aware of the time frame involved. do you want to ride this bike or wait?

Caleb,

Bob Brown is local to you too and could probably do it for you. 651.247.1851. JB does a great job but if you're looking for a single color like it already has, there's plenty of folks that can take care of it. Decals generally aren't an issue.

Call Gita and see if Dario is doing this, cost and time...

Just a thought,

some time ago, GITA referred folks to Tom Kellogg (SPECTRUM) for many of their frame paints....WHile there are equals, he second to none.

Thanks for all the replies so far. I emailed Tom Kellogg, and we'll see where it goes...

Next step:

I think I want some combination of medium green and white, but I could be convinced to change.

With the fact that this is an aluminum race bike in mind, how would you have it painted? (Feel free to post pictures.)

I'll go first.

The blue and bright green design, subing medium green for the blue, and white for the bright green.

Your thoughts?

my thoughts? when someone mentioned 300-400 dollars it was not for a design as intricate as that one. You'll have to expect a little more $.

I say, just a solid color. I always liked an unobtrusive light/pale shade of green.

[edit: I just hit post # 300!!!! Woot!!!]

I think those 2 Pego colors work very well together because they are the same tone.
The substitutions you mention will create lots of contrast and "busy-ness", imho.

Measure twice, paint once....
