But, as someone else has already pointed out, we must listen carefully.
I've been unhappy with my Shimano shoes for some time, never able to position the cleats far enough back to eliminate the feeling I was pedaling on my toes, and some problems with my Achilles tendon. And the lack of power feeling I just put down to my decreased riding time.
Well, then I went in search of the thread I'd posted earlier about this, and searched the http://www.cyclingnews.com/fitness/#qa site again for shoe brands with more rearward cleat holes.
And there I found some talk (http://www.cyclingnews.com/fitness/?id=2007/letters07-10#6) about 'heel lift.' The light bulb came on. Same time I got these shoes I bought some Superfeet insoles (http://www.rei.com/product/724381?vcat=REI_SEARCH) to replace the stock ones. And they certainly do lift your heel inside the shoe. So yesterday I took them out and put in the 'flat' insoles that came with the shoe. MUCH better. Will take some time to decide for sure, but the overall feeling of the shoe and my foot position is much better, and pedaling just feels more natural...and left me thinking I should have thought of this earlier.
