The mountain stage *after* the Alpe (not looking at a Tour route right now...but if we recall correctly, the day after the mountain TT is the beast of the race)

It would be interesting to see the difference in who we want to win versus who we think will win.

. . . after I totally dazzle the rest of the peloton with my mesmerizing riding kit and they all lose their bearings, hurtling off the parcours into ravines and brambles!

Hooray for BBDave! Fashion Disaster and Tour de France Champion! :p :D ;)

I think everyone has gone Lance ga ga!! Sure I would like to see him win this race so he would have a record of 6 wins, but I also don't think he will. If you all thought last year was tough for him, this year will be worse; he already has had problems in time trials this year and I don't think he's won any...maybe one? I think Lance will come in third or fourth overall. I think Tyler Hamilton is the man to beat, and predict that he wins, with Roberto Heras second (a man you forgot to mention in your poll) with Jan Ulrich coming in third or fourth-poor Jan because this will probably be his real last chance to win. Hamilton, Ulrich and Armstrong are now in their lower 30's and there is some young blood out there that show real promise including Alexandre Vinokourov, but the big question with him is how good is his team. But this is a race, and in races strange things can and do happen; I wouldn't be surprise if some no namer wins.

Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit outta my hat....oops wrong hat.

Remember the dominant teamwork that USPostal has brought to the tour each time for Lance? It's going to happen again.

You're right! All likelihood is that I'll be mobbed in route by a wild throng of young, beautiful nubie-like French women, pulled from my bike like a rag doll, my kit torn from my glistening, chiseled body as if made like BBD’s wonder-suits, and then….and then…. Oh Damn! I woke up! :D

Lance.
He is still motivated...... and he intends to make history.
Lance has a psychological edge over Jan. Also, Jan is still trying to attain the physical level of Lance in the big race. Jan is getting closer, but I expect
Lance to be stronger this year. Lance's training is remarkable, and his team will provide the support necessary. Jan lost Vino, and this is a huge loss for Jan's team. Vino is a dangerous rider in top form!!!
Lance is emotionally stronger this year...... he has a gal that is his emotional stronghold.
Lance can deal with pressure in what appears to be a poor situation. Have you all forgotten the amazing ride that Lance pulled off right after the Feed Bag incident and crash last year. What a will to win. On that day his intention was to waste the field by two minutes. There would be no question who the best rider was. In spite of the crash, he still trashed out the rest of the field.

At the precise moment, Lance will again come up big in the mountain passes. Mayo, Hamilton, and HERAS will push hard, but Lance will have the strategy to win. Jan will suffer badly in the mountains, and he secretly knows this. He may take the time trials, but he knows that realistically he cannot climb as well as the others. Why should this year be different?

This is CYCLING HISTORY. Do not deny Lance his special place in cycling history. He is the world's best endurance athlete over a three week span.
He will win!!!
