How Do You Clean Cranks?

I'm trying to clean some too long DA cranks to give to my friend or sell on Craigslist; not doing too well with getting them shine.

How do you clean them? Can they be returned to shine? Tried lemon pledge like I read cleans ti bikes...not too great a result.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Do you mean just the cranks or is it the rings that are dirty?

A little paint thinnner goes a long way in cleaning that greasy crud if it's the rings that are giving you trouble.

The cranks themselves should clean up easily with a little citrus degreaser.

The gearrings are a bit dirty, not bad. I will try your suggestion. It is the cranks themselves that I would like to polish out. They don't seem to be coming back to shiney. Were they ever shiney?
